Jello Poke Cake

JELLO POKE CAKE

Did you all have a wonderful holiday weekend? I had such an enjoyable relaxing weekend with my family. I took advantage of this wonderful jello recipe I found online, and made it patriotic.

Here's what you're going to need:
  • 1 box jello
  • 1 cake mix (and items to make the cake)
  • 1 tub cool-whip

Bake your cake up according to the box directions. I chose to do a white cake mix.

Poke holes all over it with a fork. Make up your jello mix

And pour it all over the cake. I did raspberry jello, to cover my red and white bases. Refrigerate the cake for at least 3 hours. You have to let the jello set up a little bit, it makes a difference, I promise! Take your cool-whip and add some blue food coloring to it, and now you have your red white and blue!

See how fun the holes poked in the cake make it look? Donna, over at My Tasty Treasures, make a pudding poke cake a little while ago. I had never seen anything like that before! And I was looking for a cool summer dessert to try anyway. So I went searching for poke cakes, and came across this one.

K-Girl sure loved it, and I couldn't keep her out of the pan.

You could try this for any holiday with the different colors of jello and whipped cream. I'm going to try orange jello and purple frosting for halloween.

Jello Poke Cake
  • 1 box cake mix (and items to make cake)
  • 1 box jello
  • 1 tub cool-whip
Make cake according to directions on box. Let cool for about 15 minutes. Prepare your jello according to directions on box. Poke holes about 1 inch apart with a fork all over your cake. They don't have to go all the way to the bottom. Pour jello mixture over the cake. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours. Color your cool-whip with food coloring (if desired) and frost cake with it. Serve cold.
