GIVEAWAY!!

BIRTHDAY GIVEAWAY!

My birthday is in a week, and I turn 25 (quarter of a century?!? I don't feel like it)

So I figured, it's time for my first ever giveaway

I've been posting for over a year too! I didn't think it had been that long. . .the middle of may was my one-year recipe blog-anniversary.

So to commemorate BOTH these wonderful events, I'm not just giving away one of these beautiful cookbooks

With wonderfully handcrafted recipe pages by ladies all over the country

but I'm giving away TWO of these books

Aren't these beautiful?

They're full books, with 5 sections. Drinks, appetizers, sides, main dishes, salads, and desserts. There's 24 recipes in here for you to try and enjoy!

How could you not want to cook a recipe that sounds as wonderful as this?

Or this one! I love avocados, but Captain Jax won't touch them *sigh*

Mmmmm. . . .

Do you want one of these?

Here's what you've got to do, to be entered to win one of these TWO recipes books.

1-For one entry, leave me a comment telling me your favorite recipe. You can leave the title, link to another site, post the whole recipe, just let me know what your favorite recipe is because I want to try it! (note: it doesn't have to be from my blog :) )

2-Start following my blog for a second entry, and leave a SEPARATE comment telling me you started following me (or you already do!)

3-For a third entry, post about this giveaway on your blog, come back and leave me a comment telling me you posted about this giveaway on your blog, and give me a link back to the post.

And I'm sorry to all my foriegn friends, but I'm a cheapskate, and I can't afford to mail this giveaway out of the USA. So I'm going to have to limit this to residents of USA only. Thanks for understanding, and please keep reading and commenting!!

GOOD LUCK!! Contest will end on July 21, at Midnight (my time, MST). I'll have Captain Jax draw two names from a bowl (because we're pretty technical around here) and post the winners the morning of the 22nd. At which point, the winners will need to contact me with their mailing address.

If you are wanting a new recipe I like the chicken tenders or spicy chicken sandwich from Eating for Life book (I will write down the recipe and email you it later).

And I blogged about you in my blog! (and facebook since I don't have many followers on my blog) :)

  14. Hiya! I am new to your blog, but I love what I've seen so far! One of my favorite recipes is from Leanne Ely's Menu Mailer...

    CROCK-POT CHICKEN INDONESIAN

    1 Tablespoon soy sauce
    2 cloves garlic, minced
2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger root
    1½ teaspoons sesame oil
    ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
6 skinless chicken thighs (I like the boneless, skinless)
    1/3 cup peanut butter

In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and cayenne pepper. Place chicken in Crock-pot. Pour sauce mixture over chicken, cover, and cook on low heat setting 6 1/2 to 7 hours or until chicken is tender and fully cooked. Remove the chicken from Crock-pot and stir peanut butter into juices until smooth. Spoon sauce over chicken to serve.

**NOTE: I have often used ground ginger from the spice rack rather than grating fresh ginger root.

I often will double the sauce ingredients (except for the cayenne) because my family likes it over mashed potatoes.

  36. Hi!

I'm working in Chile at the moment teaching children (will return in a year) but the moment I saw this, ahhh! lol Okay, I posting for my mom in Houston lol and then she would mail to me.

    Recipe I like (from http://legallyeating.com/)
    Dessert Crêpes Ingredients:
    1 C flour
    1 1/2 C milk
    2 eggs
    1 t vegetable oil
    1/4 t salt
    1 T sugar

    Directions:
Mix all ingredients thoroughly. Chill for at least an hour.

Heat medium skillet over medium heat. Spray with non-stick cooking spray and spoon on 1/4 C of batter, or enough to coat pan after tilting pan to thinly cover the whole surface. Once edges are translucent and kinda crispy, flip over with spatula. After a little bit longer, slide off crêpe onto a plate. Place sheets of wax paper in between layers of crêpes.

    Chocolate Sauce Ingredients
    6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
    1/4 lb. butter
    1/4 C vegetable oil

    Directions:
Melt all ingredients together till smooth and blended. This can be done over low heat in a saucepan, in the microwave or double boiler.

Directions for Ice Cream Filled Crêpes with Chocolate Sauce:
Place two scoops of ice cream in the along the center of an open crêpe. Fold sides in and roll over. Top with warm chocolate sauce and garnish with finely grated chocolate.

  39. So I have quite a few recipes that I love, and would love to share with you. But this one is really easy, and it kind of tastes like a Skor bar. YUMMY

    Pine Bark

    35 Saltine Crackers
    1 C butter
    1 C packed brown sugar
    1/2 tsp vanilla extract
5 4 oz milk chocolate bars broken into pieces

    Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Line a 15 x 10 inch pan with tin foil. Lightly spray with a non stick spray

Place Saltine brackers, salty side up, in prepared pan. In a saucepan boil butter and sugar for 2 to 3 min, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in extract. Pour mixture over vrackers and bake for 4 to 6 min. Remove from oven. Top with broken chocolate and spread evenly as chocolate begins to melt. cool slightly and tranfer onto waxed paper. Allow to cool completely.
