Because I've been gone. . .

Since I was gone for so long, and I'm still not quite back yet, I've been wanting to do a giveaway. But I was having trouble coming up with something I thought would be awesome. Plus, it's hot. I can't think too much when it's hot.

Thankfully, MyBlogSpark stepped up (again) and saved the day. Thanks to General Mills for providing this package and giveaway through MyBlogSpark!

As you all know, I'm cheap. But my problem is, I'm attracted to the nice and expensive things. That's a whole 'nuther story though. Contrary to what some may think, a nice way to save money is using warehouse clubs, like Costco. Yes, you have to pay a membership fee ($50 for 1year--that's the cheapest) but it's pretty good still!!

For example: A box of Oreos, with 10 sleeves in it (about the equivalent of 3-4 packages) runs around $6 at Costco. 3-4 boxes of Oreos, regular price at the grocery store will run you about $10 or more!!

And milk? About $3.50 for 2gallons. Now, you can just combine those two, and you practically have dinner ready! Well, if you're like Captain Jax that is. . .

Now on to the giveaway. . . .

Summer is here, and it is HOT. You need some snacks on hand that you can throw in the car, throw in the beach bag, your purse. Granola bars are perfect, and these Nature Valley granola bars are my favorite. I always buy a box when I go to costco and keep a ziplock bag full in my car. They're chewy and soft, which is the only way I like my granola bars.

And if you have young ones around, these fruit wraps are great! This is all K-girl asks for now. Everything comes individually wrapped too, which is even better.

BUT WAIT!! it gets better. MyBlogSpark and General Mills are done EVEN MORE to sweeten this giveaway for you.

A $25 giftcard to Costco. Don't worry, you do NOT need to have a Costco membership to use this card, it's like giving you a small trial of Costco. You can walk in and around the store, see what you like and pick up something for $25.

So here's the deal, if you want to enter this giveaway:

1 Entry-post a comment and let me know what your favorite summer-time snacks are. And if it's something awesome, post the recipe too!!

2nd Entry-follow this blog, and post a second comment, letting me know you follow (or if you already follow)

Easy as that! Giveaway will close on JULY 4th at NOON, mountain time.

  19. I'm with the others. I absolutely love fruit in the summer. So many are in season and just yum! I like to mix it up a bit, though, and do melon ball baskets or purchase a bunch of fruit at once and then freeze it. On hot days, we just pull out frozen apples or strawberries and chow down.

  23. My favorite summer time treat is fresh peaches (preferably off the tree, but that doesn't happen until August. Also peeling them make the consistency a little better but I'm sure someone will tell you that you are losing all the valuable nutrients by peeling them), cut up in milk, with... (I know you are excited, and confused, "How could that get any better?" you say)

    SUGAR!!!
Sprinkle on a little (or a lot) of sweet beautiful sugar. How could you go wrong with that?

Of course, there is the kid's favorite homemade banana ice cream, the husband's favorite, strawberry shortcake (except the shortcake is actually a homemade pound cake), and my favorite treat is a Mojito....with fresh mint picked from our garden. 35. I also love all the yummy fresh fruit during the summer! We also love to use the grill in the summer because it tastes good, it keeps the house cool, and usually no clean up! We recently tried a new tinfoil dinner for us. We made our packets, put a chicken breast, pineapple ring, bell pepper ring, and 2 Tbsp of our favorite BBQ sauce, sealed everything up and cooked it. Very yummy!
