Saturday's Party--Muddy Buddies

MUDDY BUDDIES

I had to laugh, when I saw these posted the other day on 4Kowboys blog, since I had them planned for this week's party.  And I'm only 1 day late--sometimes life just gets crazy, right?

These are a quick and easy snack!  Captain Jax is always requesting I make them, so I finally broke down and made them.  I hate melting chocolate, so I had been putting them off, for quite some time!  But he was sure happy to take a tupperware full to work with him.  And K-girl loved having a snack as well.

These are known by other names as well, Puppy Chow, Dog chow, a few others.  They're pretty much all the same thing. :)

  • 9 cups square cereal (like Chex)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Melt together the chocolate chips, peanut butter, butter, and vanilla.  Pour over the cereal, and mix well to coat the pieces.  At this point, you can transfer to a bag and pour the powdered sugar over them.  Seal and bag and shake like crazy until all the pieces are covered!  You might have to use your fingers and break up chunks that are sticking together, so they can all be covered with powdered sugar.

  1. Hey! That's my blog! lol
These are super simple to make! I like melting chocolate in the microwave. It is easier than a double boiler which I always seem to get water in my chocolate and it makes it seize up... microwave is a plus with this recipe!
