Apple Pie Crumb Topping

APPLE PIE
(Still time to link up to this week's Saturday's Party!  See link HEREThere is also time to enter the giveaway for chocolate but only through TODAY!!  See link HERE. Giveaway is now closed)
Last year, my sister gave me a can of pie filling, that she canned herself!  I finally got around to using it, and it was tasty.  I ate the entire pie, because my family decided they didn't like pie that week.  It was worth it.

You see, I've been watching Pushing Daisies through Netflix, and it's all about a piemaker (and the fact that he can bring dead people back to life, but let's focus on the pie aspect).  I've been craving pie all the time!  Poor Captain Jax, that's all I've been talking about lately.

So after watching a few episodes of the show, I decided to make a pie.

The star of this pie was the topping.  Boy howdy was it ever!!  I piled it on nice and thick, and it was wonderful. I can't wait to try it on some muffins.

APPLE PIE CRUMB TOPPING

  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup quick-oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter (1 stick)
Mix everything together.  Hands are a great mixer.  Sprinkle over your pie and bake according to directions.  Also good as a topping for fruit bars, or muffins.

  2. Crumb topping on an apple pie is yumster!! I had to laugh about you eating the whole pie. That happens around here when I make sweets. I end up eating all of it. Which is why you don't see a lot of sweet recipes from me LOL!!

Hope you're having a wonderful week!
